Pulipaka Venkateswara Prasadishi Vasanth

Pulipaka Venkateswara Prasad

  • Pulipaka Venkateswara Prasad

It starts with the following sentence.
The son of Vyâsa [S'uka] said: 'With that decision he [Gajendra] lead by his intelligence focussed his mind on his heart by reciting a supreme prayer he had practiced in a previous birth [see also B.G. 6: 43-44]. (2)

S'rî Gajendra said: My obeisances unto the Original One, the Supreme Godhead who moves this materially controlled existence to consciousness, let me meditate upon Him, that personality who is the root cause, the Supreme Controller.

The universe rests in Him, exists because of Him and originates from Him, I surrender to Him, that independent Godhead who is our cause and who is transcendental to us.

He who from His own energy expanded this cosmic manifestation that sometimes is manifest and sometimes has vanished, in both cases oversees all and everything as the witness.

I beg that root Soul, the Supreme Transcendence of the beyond, to protect me!
...............(as it is lengthy I am omitting other lines)

29 I seek my refuge with Him, the Supreme Lord whose glories are unfathomable, whose Self is not known by the common man and by whose forces and intelligence I have been defeated.'

    (30) S'rî S'uka said: 'Since he with this description was not directed at any particular personal appearance, Gajendra was not approached by any of the diverse appearances of Brahmâ's independent demigods. Instead of that choice of Gods the Lord in person appeared because He stands for the complete of them [compare B.G. 7: 20-23 and 9: 23; 4.31: 14].

Hearing his prayer the Lord of all worlds who understood his plight then cameas fast as He could, together with the denizens of heaven who offered their prayers. Carried by Garuda and equipped with His disc and other weapons he soon arrived where Gajendra was situated.

As soon as he, who in the water so violently was captured and was suffering, saw the Lord who on the back of Garuda raised His disc in the sky, he lifted his trunk holding a lotus flower and uttered with difficulty: 'Oh Nârâyana, Teacher of Completeness, oh Supreme Lord, You I offer my obeisances.

Seeing him that pained the Unborn One so full of mercy alighted immediately and saved, before the eyes of all the godly ones present, him with His disc by severing the mouth from the crocodile its trunk and pulled Gajendra out of the water.'

  • Kalavathi Sonti Gajendra has the required mental state for moksha....... But the credit goes to Sri hari........

  • Pulipaka Venkateswara Prasad You are right madam. As told in Bhagavadgita the bhaktas are of four types Artee jignaasu arthaarthi and gnani. Gajendra is artee. Out of utter desparation he surrendered to Him and that pinnacle of devotion reached Him.(Another is Draupadi ). Jignasu begins the path of devotion out of curiosity and later total submission takes place*( udhava , friend of Krishna) . Artharthee starts his devotion with a single purpose and later reaches the state of total ecstacy( Dhruva) . Gnani is devotee from the very beginning. He thinks nothing but Him. He is aware that he has no separate existence(Prahlad) For Srihari all are Bhaktas. But the last one is the most liked. As you said, the credit goes to Him as He only kindles the light in every one.

A Psalm of Life
BY HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW
What The Heart Of The Young Man Said To The Psalmist.
Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.
Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world’s broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,— act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o’erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o’er life’s solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

Ae Bhai Zara Dekh Ke Chalo Lyrics from Mera Naam Joker
(Aye bhai jara dekh ke chalo aage hi nahi pichhe bhi
Daye hi nahi baye bhi upar hi nahi niche bhi) - (2)
Aye bhai
Tu jaha aaya hai vo tera ghar nahi gav nahi
Gali nahi kucha nahi rasta nahi basti nahi
Duniya hai aur pyare duniya yah ek sarkas hai
Aur is sarkas me bade ko bhi chote ko bhi
Khare ko bhi khote ko bhi mote ko bhi patle ko bhi
Niche se upar ko upar se niche ko
Barabar aana jana padta hai
Tarah tarah nach kar dikhana yaha padta hai
Barbar rona aur gana yaha padta hai
Hiro se jokar ban jana padta hai - 2
(Aye bhai jara dekh ke chalo aage hi nahi pichhe bhi
Daye hi nahi baye bhi upar hi nahi niche bhi) - (2)
Aye bhai
Girne se darta hai kyu marne se darta hai kyu
Jindgi hai chij kya nahi jan payega
Rota hua aaya hai rota chala jayega
(Aye bhai jara dekh ke chalo aage hi nahi pichhe bhi
Daye hi nahi baye bhi upar hi nahi niche bhi) - (2)
Aye bhai
Kaisa hai karishma kaisa khilwad hai
Janwar aadmi se jyada wafadar hai
Khata hai koda bhi rahta hai bhukha bhi
Fir bhi vo malik par karta nahi war hai
Aur insan yah maal jis ka khata hai
Pyar jis se pata hai geet jiske gata hai
Usike hi sine me bhokta katar hai
Aye bhai jara dekh ke chalo aage hi nahi pichhe bhi
Daye hi nahi baye bhi upar hi nahi niche bhi
Aye bhai
Sarkas ha ha ha
Ha babu yah sarkas hai sho tin ghante ka
Pahla ghanta bachpan hai dusra javani hai
Tisra budhapa hai
Aur uske baad maa nahi baap nahi
Beta nahi beti nahi tu nahi
Mai nahi kuch bhi nahi rahta hai
Kuch bhi nahi rahta hai
Rahta hai jo kuch vo khali khali kursiya hai
Khali khali tambu hai khali khali ghera hai
What a fool I was, what a dominated fool
To think you were the earth and sky
What a fool I was, what an addle-pated fool
What a muddle-headed dolt was I!
No, my reverberating friend -
You are not the beginning and the end
...
There'll be spring every year without you
England still will be hear without you
There'll be fruit on the tree and a shore by the sea
There'll be crumpets and tea without you
Art and music will thrive without you
Somehow Keats will survive without you
And there still will be rain
On that plain down in Spain
Even that will remain without you
I can do
Without you
You dear friend who talk so well
You can go to Hartford, Hereford, and Hampshire!
They can still rule the land without you
Windsor Castle will stand without you
And without much ado,
We can all muddle through without you
Without your pulling it the tide comes in
Without your twirling it the earth can spin
Without your pushing them the clouds roll by
If they can do without you Ducky, so can I
I shall not feel alone without you
I can stand on my own without you
So go back in your shell
I can do bloody well without---
BYYYY GEORGE I really did it
I did it, I did it
I said I'd a woman and indeed I did
I knew that I could do it
I knew it, I knew it
I said I'd make a woman and succeed I did
Cab fare to nowhere is what you are
A white line to an exit sign is what you are
Oh but I saw in you, now I see through
Don't shed a tear for me, my life won't end without you
Long as the night will be, the sun will rise without you
A locked door on a candy store is what you are
A slim chance in tight pants is what you are
All that I loved you for, I want it more
Don't shed a tear for me, my life won't end without you
Long as the night will be, the sun will rise without you
You are giving what I'm not taking
I'm not missing what we ain't making
Oh but I saw in you, now I see through
Don't shed a tear for me, my life won't end without you
Long as the night will be, the sun will rise without you
Don't shed a tear for me, my life won't end without you
Long as the night will be, the sun will rise without you
Don't shed no tears,
I don't need a thing.
…………..Pawl carroack
My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.

To reach Vaikuntha (abode of Lakshmi and Vishnu), I pray to the Lord who is the cause and protector of this world, who is ever ready to save his devotees, who stops all the nefarious activities of demons, who as part of his play created the entire cosmic egg (brahmAnDa) through his breath, who provided great happiness to a woman (Yasoda) as a child (Krishna).

I bow with my forehead touching the earth and praise Goddess VANi (Saraswathi), who has a waist like a fine white sand (as in a beach), whose beautiful braided hair looks like a large gathering of bees, who protects the gods of heaven, who alone  conquered the heart of the lotus-seated Brahma, and who holds in her beautiful hands a string of beads (japamAla), a parrot, a lotus, and a book.

O King (Shuka addressing King ParIkshit)! PrahlAda, even though like other children was engaged in drinking, eating, speaking, joking, playing, sleeping, moving around, discussing, etc., at the same time always being engaged in enjoying the nectar (pleasure) of thinking of NarAyana’s feet, the son of the demon king forgot about this world.

For fathers, their son’s words give happiness every day, remove their stress from daily work, and are like ornaments for their ears! (that is how Hiranyakashipu was thinking before speaking to his son PrahlAda when he came back from teachers).

(When Hiranyakashipu asks PrahlAda what he learnt from his teachers, while replying that devotion to Vishnu is what he learnt, Prahlada defends that devotion in this poem). Can a bee that is used to take sweet nectar from crown flower go to other plants? Can a swan that enjoys the lilting winds at the pure river MaMdakini (in HimAlayAs) go to other rivers? Can a cuckoo used to eating tender leaves go to coral reefs? Can a partridge used to the inspiration of full moon’s brightness go to foggy seashores? How can a mind that revels in drinking the nectar of thinking of the lotus-like feet of NarayaNa think of anything else? O Father, your qualities are praised all over the world, why say so many words other than devotion to VishNu?

The meaningless life’s activities of those who do not have devotion to ViShNu are like sunrise for the blind, conch sounds for the deaf, teaching to recite great books to the dumb, desires of a eunuch, thankless relatives, offerings in ashes, riches of a miser, and wearing scents inside.

Is a body that is not dedicated to the lotus-eyed Vishnu a body? No, it is a leather bag filled with air. Is a throat that does not praise VaikunThavAsa (hari) a throat? No, it is a drum that makes dum-dum sounds. Is a hand that does not worship Hari a hand? No, it is a spatula made by a tree branch. Are the eyes that do not see the husband of Lakshmi (Hari) really eyes? No, they are holes in the walls of the body. Is a life without thinking about Cakri (Hari, who holds a spinning wheel on his fingers) a life? No, it is a bubble on the waves of water. Is a learned who does not have devotion to VishNu a learned person? No, he is an animal with two feet!

Just as a blind man following another blind man does not see anything significant, some people thinking that actions such as sacrifices are adequate and get tied to such actions do not see VishNu. Only those who believe in being on ViShnu’s side and go beyond action can see Him.

Even when the night-movers (demons) keep hurting him in several ways (on the orders of Hiranyakashipu who was angry that PrahlAda is devoted to Hari), PrahlAda, the son of rAkshasAs (demons), repeatedly keeps praying Hari by saying O Vishnu who lies on a serpent!, O destroyer of demons!, O Lord of the Universe!, O protector of those who seek refuge! O purifier of all!, etc., but neither sheds tears nor becomes afraid.

(After trying several ways to kill Prahlada, Hiranyakashipu thinks within himself) – I tried to drown him (PrahlAda) in seas, hit him with maces, threw him down from hilltops, cut him down with swords, stamped him down by a row of elephants, threatened, cursed, threw him in scary fires, and in so many ways tried to kill him. What a wonder that he does not die!

Hari is in the oceans, in the air, in the sky, in the earth, in fire, in all directions, in daytime and night time, in those who light up the sky such as moon, in OMkAra, in the three deities (Brahma, ViShnu, Shiva), in all three genders, in everywhere; why look here and there?

Breaking the pillar, came from it Lord Narasimha, who is neither human, nor a lion, but a combined lion-human shape with a lion’s face, as ViShNu’s incarnation displaying Hari’s mysterious ways.

Lord Narasimha then grabs Hiranyakashipu and kills him without violating the boon he got from Brahma, in a body that is neither human nor animal, in his lap which is neither ground nor sky, with his nails that are neither living nor lifeless, at the entrance which is neither inside nor outside, and at dusk which is neither day nor night.
